There are different types of certification across the globe, this is what makes this new industry so complex. The primary standards have come from the Kyoto Protocol framework. The major standards are
the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS).
The CDM is a mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol for reducing emissions through implementing projects in developing countries.
The phenomenon where climate patterns change. Changes in atmospheric pressure and ocean patterns led to increased storms and irregular storms. Many scientists today believe this is caused by the increase in global temperature.
GHG's are gases that together form the Earth's atmostphere, including carbon dioxide. These are vital in terms of the global environment as depending on the ratio of of component gases. Many belive the climate change that is taking place today is caused by a change in the ratio of the componenet cases, especially an increase in carbon dioxide levels. The result of this is that the Earth's atmosphere hold in more heat than is 'normal'.
VCS aims to be the global bench mark standard for project based voluntary emission reductions.
